Thank You Little Garden

My little tomato patch has started producing its bounty for us. Every day there are new ripened tomatoes for us to pick & enjoy in salads. We especially love Caprese salad and for that reason alone I will always grow tomatoes :)

July means Fireflies

Does everyone all over the world get to enjoy Fireflies? Last night I sat outside enjoying the balmy breezes whilst awaiting the severe thunderstorms to arrive (no, they never did), and watched the fireflies light up in the trees and grasses....so, so pretty. Of course, I have plenty of childhood memories of catching these friendly creatures & watching them turn their 'lights' on & off in my hand....and my children do too. They are a happy, brief moment in each summer. A favorite book of mine...

A fun read for children, but I know for me, it was the illustrations that really pulled me in...just like this other favorite, illustrated by P.D. Eastman...

If you've never heard of these books I suggest you try them out, they are both delightful :)
Now, since the predicted rain never came I have to go water my outside plants...no fireflies out now, just those pesky mosquitoes!

Enjoy your day <3

So Many WIPs!

Hello Friends - I have been off from work about a week now and am thoroughly enjoying the time away :) I am determined to stay busy crafting, so needless to say the WIPs are piling up! Here's what I admit to have going on right now...

This is a Granny Square afghan I started in the winter using Red Heart yarn. It's a pretty good size already and I plan on adding squares till I run out of yarn. I'm using the join-as-you-go method for attaching the squares. I'm keeping up with weaving in the tails as I go - so when it's done...it's done! It's too hot for working on it now though, even with the A/C aimed directly on me...lol.

This is a better size for summer crocheting...it's a pillow top I crocheted using Lily's Sugar & Cream 100% cotton yarn. I followed Lucy's pattern here for the motif and I crocheted the squares together as shown here. Thank you Lucy of Attic24 for such great tutorials :) I have a 14" pillow form, now I just need to crochet a back piece and another WIP will be finished.

These are other color combos I tried...I like the russet framed ones for an autumn pillow, but no need to worry about that now - summer crafts only!

Now these are summery! I followed the pattern from here
These are also made using Lily's Sugar & Cream 100% cotton yarn. I will probably make these into a colorful bunting. I have a board on my Pinterest here with all sorts of crochet motifs for garlands.

Lastly, and most recently, I have been making friendship bracelets. I prefer finishing them with jewelry findings instead of knots and buttons so the top three still need to get their final touches done. I also plan on embellishing them with rhinestones and other jewels which is all the rage right now. I made the red & blue bracelets for my daughter to wear on the 4th of July. You can do a google or youtube search for plenty of inspiration and patterns.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my WIPs. If you are a "multi-tasker" like me, now you know you have company ;P

Thanks for stopping by...hope to see ya soon :)

Last weekend my daughter and I visited the Country Living Fair held in Rhinebeck, NY. The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful time. I have lots of pictures to share, so ENJOY!

*If your were a vendor at the fair and see a photo of your work, please contact me and I will add your name and  a link to your webpage :)

P.S. - I was very, very good and only bought a card of vintage buttons for $2 - aren't you proud of me?

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Happy Halloween!

I hope your day is filled with TREATS and no TRICKS! This is the first year my kiddos will not be Trick-or-Treating...although my 16yo is still on the fence...free candy is quite the motivator.

Enjoy your day :)

Sheep And Wool Festival

My DH and I had a fabulous time at the New York State Sheep And Wool Festival held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. We had a relaxing day enjoying all the activities. I will let my pictures speak for themselves...

And, of course, there were innumerable vendors selling all sorts of fibers and yarns...I can't believe I didn't take any photos of them...trust me when I tell you their wares were exquisite.

We are already planning to return next year :)
